Secretary Report.    More updates on the web page. Need articles to place in web page, building tips, product reports etc. etc.

I know your asking yourself, if you are an Email newsletter recipient, why am I receiving a newsletter in the mail?

Well, it could be that the newsletter editor does not have access to the web at this time, I will be coming up on Verizon at the end of this month, darn earthstink DSL worked for approx. two weeks then went belly up and I have been fighting with them for a month for them to finally admit that they cannot provide DSL service to my area but Verizon can, go figure.

Any way, from now on, well after this club meeting, I will be sending out the newsletter the week after the club meeting instead of a week before the next meeting, why you say, because there are things decided on at the meeting that would need members help, in doing them, for that month and when you receive the newsletter it is already been done.

As to the web site I have not been able to access it to do any updates but this will be fixed at the end of this month when my internet access is setup.

To the new, and some of the old members, who have not received their club ID cards you will be receiving them in the next week, I’m on my second printer in two months. The last one would print one side of the ID properly aligned with the edges and the next would be between the edges and the reverse side was even worse. I had spent hours trying to get the darn thing to work but finally gave up and got a new one. This one seems to be working properly but time will tell.

We have been approached by Norm Rosenstock who is the Historian for the “AMA History Program” about the prospect of using the information provided in the club pamphlet in the “AMA History Program” to help preserve the history of model aviation. Mr. Rosenstock had picked up our information brochure at the AMA Ontario convention show in January, see it did help out the club to attend.

I will be bringing the information package to the meeting for discussion.

I also just received some information from “West Coast Composites” also know as “Performance Plus” fuel. Yep, Mr. John Craig is back in business and will give us a club discount. The information is shown below. So, what I’m suggesting is that we all get together and figure how much fuel we all need and make it in one purchase. This helps out Mr. Craig and we get a darn good deal as well.

And for the “MOKI” crowd he has a special blend for you also.

Club meeting itinerary:      This is a new feature to the club newsletter so give me your feed back on this.

This will be discussed at the next meeting.

1.      Next years AMA convention in Ontario . Who will attend and the display booth set up.

2.      Float fly, sign up to help out.

3.      Water to the field.

4.      Weed abatement.

Up Coming events:                    June 11 Float fly at Prado park.

Old Business.        Mr. Jim Wilson sprayed weed killer around the flying field and pit area. Let’s give him a BIG thank you for doing that.

Speaking of the weeds we will be setting up a date for field maintenance again to get ride of the weeds and to finish sealing the runway and applying the white cross stripes on the ends of the runway. We need Asphalt driveway sealant and driveway crack patch material donated to the club to finish up the runway, approx 20+ cans of sealant should do it and what is left over, if any, can be stored for later use. We also will need several can of White strip spray or brush on paint for the “X’s” that need to be applied at the ends of the runway.

Safety netting repair. It was decided to purchase more orange safety netting to be placed behind the old green torn up netting so that both can help retain runaway aircraft better and it is more visible.

The web site has a “For Sale” “Wanted” section, along with this newsletter, so if you would like to sell anything or are looking for something just contact me either at the field, by phone or by E-Mail. The information I would need is:

1.      What it is you are selling, Description.

2.      How much you are asking/willing to take for it.

3.      Pictures.

4.      A way to contact you.

The club gets 10% of all sales.

The paperwork to amend to the club by-laws club membership limit was presented and voted on at the last meeting. The amendment has past so the club By-laws will now show a 120 member limit. The amended By-law page is included with your newsletter so you can replace the old page with the new one.

Speaking of By-laws we have a bunch of new members and I don’t remember if I sent you the club By-laws with your membership package so if I did not send you one you can go to the club website and down load it or If you can’t do that contact me and I will mail you one. Thanks.

New Business.   We have been approached by the Marks/Gilman springs club about joining them next year in the Trainer pylon race / World Models War bird race. We would be combining our Trainer pylon race series with their World models War bird pylon race series where each event would be held at the different club locations on different months. This way we would get more people involved in the Trainer pylon racing event and also bring the clubs together for some mutual friendship and comradery. So come to the meeting and give us your thoughts on the subject.

The Redlands airport has asked us to participate in more of their open house events as they where very impressed with the flying and aircraft display at the last show. The question was also brought up do we want to go to the different air show venues and display our aircraft and perform flight demonstrations?

We will need your input on this issue.

Dogs at the field. Their have been several close calls with people almost getting bitten by members dogs. Also dogs running loose in the pits and on the runway. So it was decided that NO dogs are allowed at the field. That means you cannot bring them to the field and leave them in your car.

The issue was brought up again about starting your aircraft in the designated pit areas. That means if you need to adjust your engine, above an idle, you will need to do the run-ups along side of the taxi ways facing either east or west and have the aircraft under restraint either by some kind of restraining device or a helper.  It is always a good idea to have some help when performing any type of engine run up work.

Event Report:       We had the Trainer races for May and we had a pretty good turn out with yours truly getting a first place finish, NO I did not bribe the event CD, who was I , every one came away in good shape with only one person with aircraft problems and that was Jim Wilson who had a leaking fuel tank that soaked his receiver, that failed but luckily it happened on the ground, Jim was able to get airborne again with the gift of another fuel tank. This is what friendly competition is all about; you don’t want to win by default.

We have a new person we all need to look out for and that is Bryan Atkinson who took third in is first Trainer race and I believe he only soloed a few months ago, Way to go Bryan.

The winners of the AMAA May Trainer races are:

1st place ………Richard D. Rittmiller
